TEEA 2026 Preconference Workshops

Start your TEEA Conference experience with hands-on professional learning at Pickwick Landing State Park! Join us on Friday, September 25 for one of three preconference workshops designed to build skills, spark new ideas, and connect you with fellow educators.

BEETLES Project: Constructing Understanding Through the Lens of Matter and Energy in Ecosystems

9:00 AM–12:00 PM | $15 | Limited to 20 participants

Explore how learners build and revise their understanding through a hands-on investigation of matter and energy in ecosystems. Led by Jennie McGuigan, this workshop blends science content with practical instructional strategies you can use to uncover misconceptions, encourage inquiry, and help students construct deeper understanding.

Listening to the Land: A Nature Writing Workshop for Educators

1:00–4:00 PM | $15 | Limited to 20 participants

Slow down, step outside, and explore the connection between careful observation, nature, and writing. Led by Jeremy Lloyd of Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont, this workshop combines mentor texts, practical nature-writing techniques, outdoor observation, and time to write. Designed for beginner and intermediate writers, no previous nature-writing experience is needed.

Project WET Facilitator Workshop

9:00 AM–4:00 PM | $25 | Limited to 25 participants

Become a Project WET Facilitator and gain the skills and resources to lead Project WET professional development for educators in your school, organization, or community. This full-day, interactive training includes the Project WET Foundations of Water Education guide, hands-on activities, adult facilitation strategies, workshop materials, and refreshments.

Project WET registration deadline: September 15, 2026.

Participants in the full-day Project WET workshop may bring their own lunch or preorder a boxed lunch during registration.

Space is limited for all workshops, so advance registration is encouraged.
